Business Comments:
I did my first PV system work at Lama Foundation, a spiritual community in northern New Mexico, in 1988-89, with help from Windy Dankoff. PV study at Colorado Mountain College (became SEI), Agate Flat (HP), self-study, PV design/sales for electrical contractor in western Colorado, 91-96. Bought Windy Dankoff's retail operations (client list, non-compete, good will and support) in early 1997.
Started Positive Energy on a shoestring; grew to four offices (Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Las Cruces and Taos); now just Santa Fe and Albuquerque, with over 100 employees, and with rare exception just grid-tied. Still locally-owned, employee-owned, sustainable and living wage-based, and the largest B Corporation in New Mexico.
In 2004 Taiyoko Sadewic and Mark Drummond bought into the business as equal partners, which allowed the business to grow beyond my techweenie limitations.
In April 2014 I retired from Positive Energy. I formed Sindelar Solar as a sole proprietorship focused on service, repair and upgrades of PV systems for off grid applications. I also continued to care for Positive Energy's legacy customer base, as my former company quickly dropped off grid work from its services once I left. As of 2022 I have functionally closed Sindelar Solar and fully retired.
