I live off-grid in northern BC on a large acreage. I supplied the previous owners with a robust solar/wind/generator power system in 2002 and we became friends. And now it's come around full circle.

I live a very low impact lifestyle, eat low on the food chain. Current and future gardens provide much of the food I consume.

EA Energy Alternatives Ltd is Canada's longest running renewable energy company. Our primary market is the off-grid sector in rural Canada.

In 2011 we provided a 100 kW hybrid cycle power system to BC Hydro, our electrical utility. This power station services a remote first nations community. It's been a very steep learning curve working with a large bureaucracy.

I need to keep my hands on tools, as too much desk time drives me crazy.

January 2013 - in the process of relocating our retail outlet in Victoria, BC to a new, purpose-built off-grid facility in the north. This 3,000 sq ft building is hyper-insulated, in-slab heating with heat coming from a wood gasification boiler, solar hot water, and generator waste heat recovery resulting in a very comfortable space that is very economical to heat.
